SPAG needs you! We offer several ways to get involved with our wonderful organization. How? Be a volunteer! It’s as simple as that. This page describes opportunities to serve your community in the South Plains Citizen Corps, help residents as an Ombudsman, and assist senior citizens.

South Plains Citizen Corps
SPAG's Regional Services Homeland Security Department invites you to join the South Plains Citizens Corps Council and/or choose from an array of community-oriented programs. Follow this link above to learn more about the program.

Ombudsman - Resident Advocate
Our Area Agency on Aging (AAA) offers you the chance to be a certified Ombudsman volunteer. An Ombudsman ensures that residents of nursing facilities and assisted living facilities have a high quality of life and care. We need you to be an extra pair of eyes and ears. As a volunteer, you will learn the rules, regulations, and issues pertaining to the Ombudsman program. We provide free training and will assign you to a facility close to your home throughout the SPAG region. Please call or contact Chris Ramirez at 687-0940/888-418-6564 or at cramirez@spag.org.

Assist Senior Citizens
AAA also offers you the chance to learn about programs that help the elderly. You can be a benefits counselor/legal awareness volunteer and help seniors receive information and help for programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran’s Administration, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and services relating to the preparation of wills and related documents. You will pave the way for seniors to receive the help they need and deserve. We will provide training and will assign you to a location near your home throughout the SPAG region. Please call 2-1-1 or contact Alice Garcia here at SPAG at 687-0940/888-418-6564 or at aggarcia@spag.org.
